Intel has unveiled at CES 2024 its complete lineup of its Intel Core 14th Gen processors for desktops and laptops. The chip giant has also launched the new Core U mobile processor family that’s designed for thin-and-light devices.
The company’s 14th generation is led by the flagship HX series, with the Core i9-14900HX at the helm. Aimed at PC enthusiasts and professionals, the processors in the series boast up to 24 cores and 32 threads, up to 5.8 GHz turbo frequency, and support for up to 192GB DDR5 RAM.
Intel’s internal tests claim that the 14900HX is 51 percent faster in multitasking and 17 percent higher in average FPS when compared to its rival AMD’s Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor. Other features in the HX series include overclocking capabilities and support for Thunderbolt 5 and Wi-Fi 7. Systems powered by the HX series are coming this year.

Intel next announced eighteen desktop processors that are targeted towards mainstream users and businesses. These are locked models (as a followup to the K variants launched late last year) that offer improved multi-thread performance. Leading the bunch is the i9-14900 that, like its HX counterpart, has up to 5.8 GHz turbo frequency, 24 cores and 32 threads. Prices range from $134 to $549.
And finally, for mainstream mobile PCs, Intel has announced the Core U mobile processor family that offers balanced performance for devices with thin, light structure. The Core U Processor Series 1 features up to 5.4 GHz turbo frequency, 10 cores, and 12 threads. It supports up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM, Thunderbolt 4 with 40Gbps bandwidth, and eight PCIe Gen 4.0 for SSD storage. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4/5.3 and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7/6E. Devices using this series are expected in early 2024.
