Samsung has quickly risen to prominence in the OLED monitor market with its launch of the 34-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB) just a year ago.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, Samsung continued to expand its presence with the introduction of new Odyssey OLED monitors. The lineup included the curved 49-inch G95SD and two flat models, the 27-inch G60SD and 32-inch G80SD.

Now, latest figures from the International Data Corporation (IDC) indicate that Samsung secured 28.3% of global OLED monitor sales by volume in 2023. When it comes to revenue, Samsung captured an even larger slice of the pie, earning 34.7% of all OLED monitor sales income.

Aside from its OLED success, Samsung is marking its fifth year in a row as the leader in the gaming monitor sector, boasting a 20.8% share of the market revenue in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to IDC data.

It’s interesting to note that since 2023, the definition of a “gaming monitor” has changed to include those with a refresh rate of 144Hz or more. Previously, the standard was set at 100Hz or higher.

Gaming monitors are a significant segment of the overall market, accounting for roughly 16% of all monitor shipments last year. These devices, along with mainstream and high-end models, have been acknowledge for their huge role in the rebound of the monitor market following a challenging first half in 2023.
