It seems like we are in the era where popular video games — whether they are recent hits or have been around for years — are being given their film and TV adaptations. The latest to be brought to life is Clash of Clans.

We have already seen live-action Pokémon in Detective Pikachu, and even one for Minecraft, the latest video game movie. Now, there is news that another well-known mobile game’s animated series is in the works.

After the moderate success of the beloved mobile game Angry Birds as a film franchise, Clash of Clans is set to be the next title we see on our screens, as Netflix announced. The streaming platform is no stranger to video game series adaptations, as we have seen the rise of notable works such as League of Legends’ Arcane, Devil May Cry, and even DOTA 2’s Dragon’s Blood.

Clash-of-Clans

For Clash of Clans, Netflix will collaborate with the game’s original developers, Supercell, to bring this animated endeavor to life. Fletcher Moules, known for his authentic Clash of Clans videos on YouTube, will lead the project, with Ron Weiner (30 Rock) serving as its executive producer.

While there are no further announcements for casting, the gist of the show’s plot revolves around a determined barbarian who often gets himself into trouble. He must now recruit a group of misfits to protect their village while learning more about the intricacies of war.

The video game title remains well-known today, with users continuing to play the game and forming friendships — and perhaps rivalries — with different people.

What were your fondest memories when CoC initially released? Do you still play the game nowadays? Do share your thoughts with us as we wait for more updates on the series.
