EA just announced that Apex Legends Mobile, the mobile version of EA and Respawn’s popular battle royale game, is already shutting down just after 8 months of existence.

As per the game studio, Apex Legends Mobile will be shut down on May 1, 2023. As to why they are ending it, Respawn explained that, despite the game’s strong start, the content pipeline for the game has started to “fall short” of the studio’s quality standards and quantity.

This is the reason why Respawn and EA have decided to shut down the game. Players now only have until May 1, 2023, before the developers pull the plug on the game’s servers.

As of today, the game’s real-money in-game store has already been put down and the game is now gone on digital stores. Players still have 90 days to play the game but come May 1st, servers can no longer be accessed. The worse part is, EA and Respawn will also not be providing refunds for in-game purchases.

What’s more, EA also quietly announced that the yet-to-be-released Battlefield Mobile is no longer happening. EA said that it’s because “the industry has evolved.”

But for the fans of the franchise, EA announced that the next Battlefield game is already in pre-production while they continue to work on the game’s current installment, Battlefield 2042.
