Nintendo had just recently dropped its latest iteration of the Nintendo Direct, which showcases a lot of games to come with its current flagship, the Nintendo Switch. The nearly one-hour stream displayed so many interesting titles on various franchises, both familiar and new, which concluded with perhaps the show’s greatest reveal—the sequel to the highly-acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Previously codenamed “Breath of the Wild 2,” the eagerly anticipated follow-up’s naming is now fully revealed and is called “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”. Apart from finally making known the game’s full title, another major revelation comes with the game’s official release date, which is slated for May 12, 2023.
The trailer from the Nintendo Direct stream did not show much in terms of gameplay. But, from what is shown, the game sure is developing to be as beautiful as the seminal title it is succeeding on.
The Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still several months away from becoming commercially viable, which leaves a lot of space for speculation on what is in store. Until then, fans will certainly be on the lookout for even the tiniest update as the game develops to total fruition.
