It is a sad day for Marvel fans as Netmarble announces the imminent closure of its action RPG mobile title, based on the popular comics franchise—Marvel Future Revolution—on August 25, 2023.

The announcement comes as an unhappy surprise, following what appears to be a generally likable game, especially among the fans who have been enjoying the game since its release two years ago.

Despite gaining traction, with some 10 million global downloads, the game had troubled development, often resulting in issues concerning quality and consistency.

While there is not yet an official reason behind the planned shutdown, signs tell of the game’s inconsistencies as the likely explanation for the game’s doomed fate.

As of June 2, 2023, in-game purchases became inaccessible to players while the Official Community Schedule will be disabled at a later date.

Made using Unreal Engine 4, Marvel Future Revolution offers realistic-looking, 3D visuals, featuring many of the known heroes in the franchise, such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, and Storm as initial rosters.

Additional heroes, such as Magik (December 15, 2021), Scarlet Witch (May 2022), and Wolverine (September 2022), were eventually added to the game as post-release playable characters.

Set in a multiverse, the game also included alternative versions of popular heroes, often giving them interactions with one another as part of storytelling.

Although far from being the perfect superhero game on mobile, Marvel Future Revolution still managed to leave a mark as one of the most memorable entries in the franchise.
