Following Microsoft’s successful acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, there have been talks of a possible Guitar Hero comeback, with a new game rumored to already be in development.
In a report by Windows Central, it is said that Activision CEO Bobby Kotick talked about the game’s potential return into the limelight during a town hall meeting, involving Activision-Blizzard employees.
Following what seems to be a word about the company’s future in the next 10 years, the exec made a trip back on Activision’s portfolio, which includes the likes of River Raids, Kaboom!, Pitfalls, and Guitar Hero.
With specific attention on Guitar Hero which he claimed required “different types of resources” to become possible, he also underscored the future of the franchise as offering “endless possibilities,” and therefore “incredibly exciting.”
Apart from Guitar Hero, Kotick also touched down on Elon Musk’s VR and Neuralink whose advancement in technology could revolutionize the gaming industry, alongside Microsoft’s efforts on the same.
He describes Neuralink as the experience of interacting with the screen without the need for a controller.
Highlighting Microsoft’s research capability, Bobby Kotick said that what they do there is “extraordinary.” That is the ability “to tap into their AI and machine learning capability, the data analytics, new ways of thinking about graphics.”
