Following President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to provide support to the millions of low-income families within the NCR-Plus region, a Php17 billion worth of aid (out of the Php22.9 billion) was already distributed, as per DILG secretary Eduardo Año’s statement on Monday.
Consequently, some 17,037,122 have become successful receivers of the aid, although not to the fullest extent of the entire target population. Año’s report to the president cites a relatively smaller fraction who are the remaining beneficiaries or the nearly six million still left to receive the support. The initiative has a target number of 22,915,422 in total.
Out of the five major regions that make up NCR-Plus, Metro Manila got the most out of the budget at Php8.6 billion, followed by Laguna at Php2.3 billion. Meanwhile, both Bulacan and Cavite got an equal share of Php2.1 billion, leaving the Rizal province with the least amount at Php1.7 billion.
