What is I-ARC?
I-ARC stands for Inter-Agency Response Center. It’s a hotline set up by various government agencies, including the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, National Privacy Commission, and National Telecommunications Commission. The Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation are also involved and responsible for enforcing cybercrime-related laws.

According to Art Samaniego, co-lead convenor of Scam Watch Pilipinas, victims of scams may be able to recover their stolen money and online accounts after contacting I-ARC. The 24/7 hotline has trained professionals who are ready to assist victims and provide them options. In order for I-ARC to start an investigation, victims will need to provide details about the scam, such as when and where it took place and how the scammer contacted them.

With rising cases of cybercrimes in the Philippines, the public is urged to be vigilant and take proactive measures to protect their online accounts and financial wellbeing. Essential measures such as the use of strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, and avoiding unknown Wi-Fi networks are a must.
