The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group, in different entrapment operations, arrested three IT professionals claiming that they can hack the Commission on Elections’ system.

It is said that the IT professionals are offering politicians a guaranteed victory in the upcoming May 9 elections as they could manipulate the results. In exchange, the hackers are asking Php10 million.

The three hackers were arrested on the night of April 24, Sunday. The report said that two of the hackers were apprehended in Cavite while the other one was arrested in Laguna.

Suspects are expected to be named today in the office of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

The arrest happened after the CICC received a tip regarding the suspects apparently offering such services to politicians in exchange for Php10 million for each candidate.

Authorities made the arrest after the three accepted the marked money from undercover officers.

UPDATE: According to a new report from Inquirer, the hackers were allegedly connected to the former Smartmatic employee who surrendered to the NBI.
