Public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and passengers are now required by the Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to use the contact tracing application StaySafe.ph.
Issued with an effectivity date of June 21, 2021, the Memorandum Circular No. 2021-041 mandates that PUV operators must shift from the manual fill-ups of contract tracing forms for passengers towards the contract tracing app.

PUV operators have 30 days to fulfill the requirements in compliance with the order. These requirements include registration with the app, generating a QR code with which passengers can scan during boarding and alighting, and putting the QR code conspicuously near the entrance of the vehicle.

According to the LTFRB, the required use of the StaySafe app is part of the resolution issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on December 3, 2020.
StaySafe.ph is available on Google Play, iOS App Store, and as a web app.
