FaceTime is getting a big new feature. With SharePlay, you can stream movies and TV shows, listen to music, and share screen with anyone on your FaceTime call. Clearly, Apple is taking a shot at Zoom, which spiked in popularity during the health crisis.

Spatial Audio is also coming to the popular video-calling app. With this feature, individual voices will come from the direction each of them is positioned on your screen for a more immersive and natural experience. Grid view, mic modes, portrait mode, and scheduling are also added.

Focus

Focus is identical to the feature we’ve seen on Android phones for years. It essentially prevents you from being distracted when driving, working out, gaming, reading, or anything.

Contacts will also notify you when you’re in Focus mode on the Message app.

Improved Notifications

The iOS 15 notifications are starting to catch up with Android. The notifications screen now displays contact photos and bigger app icons.

Notifications summary shows a collection of notifications delivered based on the schedule you set. It can intelligently arrange the order based on priority.

New Safari tab design, tab groups

The new Safari tab bar design has been reimagined. It now maximizes the screen space and goes out of the way when you start scrolling. You can easily access it at the bottom of the screen for easy access.

Tab groups can save and organize tabs so you can easily switch between them. It also syncs between iPhones, Mac, and other Apple devices you have. Voice search and web extensions are also coming to Apple’s web browser.

ID cards, keys on Apple Wallet

Apple Wallet is becoming more useful. It can now display driver’s licenses or other IDs to make traveling and other related activities easier.

The app can also unlock you home, garage, hotel room, and even a workplace. Albeit, features like these may not be supported in the Philippines right away.

Richer Spotlight

Spotlight, one of the most visited features on iPhones, now offers richer results and photos search. It offers more detailed information when you search artists, celebrities, movies and TV shows, and even contacts. Also, you can now search photos on Spotlight based on the text captured using iOS 15’s also-new feature, Live Text.

Live Text essentially takes any texts from a photo to turn it into useful characters. You can copy-paste texts or numbers to make call, send as a message, etc.

iCloud+

The new iCloud+ is more powerful than the standard version. It now features iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and improved HomeKit Secure Video support.

These are just the main features we expect to see on iOS 15 when it comes out in Q4 of 2021. Public beta testing will be available to users in July. You can check the full list of compatible devices to see if your iPhone will get it.
