Huawei has introduced a new laptop for those who want to have more screen real-estate for work or play. Here we have the new MateBook 16.
As the name suggests, the Huawei MateBook 16 boasts a large 16-inch screen. It has a 3:2 aspect ratio instead of 16:9 that makes it taller for reading websites or writing documents. This IPS screen has a 2520 x 1680 pixel resolution, HDR, 100% sRGB color, and deltaE = 1 calibration. It also has an anti-fingerprint coating to keep it clean when your swiping and tapping.

The MateBook 16 comes with two Zen 3 APU options. There are the Ryzen 5 5600H with 6 cores, 12 threads, and a built-in 7 CU Vega GPU. The second one has a Ryzen 5800H 8-core CPU with 16 threads and 8 CU Vega GPU.
These chipsets come with 35W TDP but can immediately jump to 54W when you press the Fn+P keys to enable Performance mode.

Keeping it cool are two 75nm Shark fin fans, two heat pipes, and a copper alloy heat sink.
Both models will come with dual-channel 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD.

Huawei claims that the MateBook 16 can last for 12.5 hours out of its 84Wh battery when watching local videos. It then comes with an ultra-fast 135W fast charger that can already give you 3.5 hours of light workload in just 15 minutes of charge.
Since it’s a USB Type-C charger, you can use it on smartphones and other Type-C devices you have.

Speaking of which, Huawei didn’t skimp on ports on this one. It has two full-size USB 3.2 ports, two USB Type-C, full-size HDMI, and an earphone/mic combo jack.
It also comes with WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, a power button the doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers. What’s odd is, unlike other 16-inch laptops, it lacks a numpad.

All this hardware is crammed inside an all-metal body that weighs about 2kg and is 17.8mm thick.
Huawei-specific features like smartphone/tablet wireless transfers, screen mirroring, display extension, and others are also here.

The Huawei MateBook 16 Ryzen 5 5600H has a price of EUR1,099 (around Php64,600) and EUR1,199 (around Php70,400) for the Ryzen 7 5800H model. Release details in Europe, as well as in the Philippines, are yet to be announced.
