The HUAWEI MateBook D16 2024 comes from a line of laptops that aren’t necessarily fancy, but do have the right set of specs and features for a good daily driver. For one, it can be had with a 13th-gen Intel Core i5, i7, or i9 CPU — all with Intel Iris Xe graphics, and a generous 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 1TB M.2 SSD storage.
One highlight is the large 16-inch IPS display with a relatively low 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and a wide 16:10 aspect ratio. Unlike other HUAWEI laptops, the 1080p webcam is on the top of the display instead of being on the keyboard and retracts.
HUAWEI also threw in a fingerprint power button, a five-point touchpad, and since it’s a 16-incher, a full keyboard with a number pad.
The port selection is quite decent, but not much. We have a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 that supports DisplayPort 1.2, USB-A Gen 3.2 and Gen 2.0, and HDMI. They are not the fastest, but should suffice. Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6e and Bluetooth 5.1.
For the battery, we have a large 70Wh module with 65W USB-C charging. Software is handled by the Windows 11 Home Edition.
The HUAWEI MateBook D16 2024 has a price of CNY4,999 (~Php39,100) for the Intel Core i5 model, CNY5,999 (~Php46,900) for the Core i7, and CNY6,499 (~Php50,900) for the Core i9. They are now available in China while international release details are yet to be known.
