Sony unveiled its newest technology breakthrough with the Sony A9 III. It is the first camera to have a global sensor full frame that promises to fix rolling shutter issues.
For years, Sony has established itself as one of the biggest camera brands in the world. It brought iconic camera lineups including the Sony Alpha 7, which is already on its 10th anniversary this year. Marking the decade of existence of the series, the Japanese brand announced its newest product, the Sony A9 III.
The Sony A9 III is a sports-centric camera with advanced optical technology. Designed for high-speed action photography, it has the world’s lightest 300mm f/2 8 lenses with blackout-free 120 frames per second shooting. It also comes with real-time recognition autofocus through the help of AI Technology.

A global sensor is significant in photography. It completely eliminates the rolling shutter as every pixel is read simultaneously on the image sensor. This results in no distortion in both still images and videos. The A9 III also comes with an impressive shooting of 1/80,000 seconds with a shutter speed of 1/16,000 seconds shooting continuously. The said technology is also beneficial in terms of flash since it enables flash sync at any shutter speed.
The global sensor also means flicker-free shooting which is a big help when working with artificial light especially when using LEDs and fluorescent lights. In terms of speed, the full-frame has a 24.6-megapixel CMOS image sensor and can shoot at 120 frames per second. It has a 1.6 seconds buffer depth and can even shoot 14-bit RAW.
The Sony A9 III is priced at USD 5,999 (~PHP 329,945). No word yet if it will be available in the Philippines.
