You’ve probably heard about Android 12 and its new features both in the core and aesthetics. One of the major ones that feel really promising is the dynamic themes.
Android 12’s dynamic themes or auto-theme sound quite basic but would look pretty impressive. Essentially, what it does is analyze the wallpaper you applied and intelligently create a new theme that matches it.

This is a big interface change. The problem is, knowing OEMs and the heavily-dressed interfaces they put on top of Android, this feature may only be limited to Pixel devices and select phone brands that opted to use the stock-Android look, like Nokia.
But apparently, that’s not the case. As spotted from a new code commit in Google’s Material Components library, there are a lot of brands that will implement the new dynamic themes feature on their devices.
The brands include Sony, TCL, and even names like Xiaomi and OPPO, who are notorious for slapping a chunk of their own interface on top of Android. You can check the list of brands below.

A couple of One UI 4 beta builds already reveal that Samsung will offer the same feature. Their name not being part of the list might mean a couple of things. One, the list is not detailed or updated or, Samsung was able to implement such feature using their own technology and not Google’s.
What we can do is wait and see. Let’s just hope that OEMs will just use what Google already made and don’t bother creating their own, which may only result in redundancy and poor implementation.
