We recently presented the MyPhone My112 as a phone for people who prefer function to design. But it’s only a feature phone. What, then, is a good rugged smartphone? The Blackview BV5000 may be a decent choice.
The Blackview BV5000 is a 5-inch Android 5.1 handset that is waterproof and dustproof (IP67 certification). Its body is strong enough to withstand bumps and scrapes. Another plus is that its screen is operable even when your finger is wet. Despite its ruggedness, the BV5000 remains relatively thin at 13.3mm at its thickest point. There also seems to be an anti-theft protection implemented in the device that prevents potential thieves from resetting the phone to factory settings.
Tough exterior aside, the Blackview BV5000 has the right hardware and features to be considered as a midrange smartphone. Powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor, the BV5000 sports a 720p display, Mali-T720 graphics, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
