Another smartphone is redefining how much a smartphone should cost. With the Doogee X5, the new price to beat is $49.99.
For such a price (which is around Php2,330 in today’s exchange), the Doogee X5 offers a 5-inch HD display, Android Lollipop and 8GB of built-in storage. It’s reportedly the first to come equipped with the quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor. It further features a 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 2400mAh battery. The specs are similar to the Cherry Mobile Touch HD, another aggressively priced smartphone.

Doogee, to the uninformed, is a Chinese manufacturer of low-cost smartphones. It’s the company behind the sub-brand Homtom, which unveiled the HT6 smartphone that boasts a 6250mAh battery.
