On August 9, the company is holding a press event to talk about its upcoming comeback. Based on the invite, it looks like Iridium Technologies Inc. will handle the operations of HONOR in the country.
In 2020, Huawei sold HONOR to a Chinese state company-led consortium to sidestep the US sanctions that crippled its main brand. Since then, the budget smartphone maker has successfully gained significant market share in China, climbing to the #2 position just behind Apple within 2 years.
Unlike Huawei, HONOR smartphones have Google Mobile Services support. Combined with its powerful hardware and reasonable price tag, this is probably the reason for its meteoric rise.
No information yet on which devices will arrive in the Philippines, but we’ll let you know once we get more details.
