Prices of the latest smartphones in the Philippines just keep getting cheaper. For instance, you can get the new MyPhone Agua Rain 2G – a dual-core CPU-equipped, entry-level Android phone running on 4.2.2 Jelly Bean – for only Php1,988.

Such an affordable price makes the MyPhone Agua Rain 2G one of the cheapest Android smartphones that wields a dual-core CPU. Many devices at that price point are usually equipped with just single core CPUs. Do note that the Rain 2G is still a budget device, so don’t go complaining why its specs (listed below) are nothing to brag about. Still, MyPhone managed to cram a lot of features for a low price.

As the name implies, there’s no 3G connectivity on this phone. Users will have to make do with a slow 2G Internet access while on the go. If they want more apps in the device besides the preloaded ones (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Viber, MyLoad, etc.), they’re also better off connecting to a speedy Wi-Fi hotspot or network in order to download apps from the Google Play Store. The limited 512MB internal storage isn’t able to accommodate a lot of downloaded apps, but a microSD card slot is fortunately available and can support up to 32GB.

If you find the specs of the Rain 2G lacking, just ready an extra Php1,000 and you can have the MyPhone Agua Rain 3G instead. This 3G-capable phone comes with a bigger internal storage and RAM, as well as better cameras. An anti-theft technology known as TARA is also equipped in this device.

More information about these two smartphones are available in MyPhone’s official website, though the Rain 2G’s webpage lists the device as having a 1.3MP front-facing camera. It’s actually a rear shooter, and there’s no front camera.
