We don’t often get to see unique smartphones beyond the slate bar form, and so we have the likes of Samsung to thank for with its occasional release of Android-powered handsets with a clamshell design. The latest of these is the dual-SIM, quad-core Samsung G9098.

Like the Hennessy and Golden Galaxy before it, the Samsung G9098 is a flip smartphone that can be operated even when it’s closed thanks to the external Super AMOLED touchscreen, which is mirrored by an internal display with the same WVGA (480 by 800) resolution and screen size (3.67 inches diagonal).

The Korean smartphone maker utilizes its faux leather and stitch design once more to give the Samsung G9098 a professional look and feel. The company hasn’t specified the exact make and model, but the chip running under the hood is a quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz. A version of Android, heavily modified by the TouchWiz skin, handles the software side of things.

As for connectivity options, the Samsung G9098 features Bluetooth 4.0, dual SIM configuration (TD-SCDMA and GSM), GPS with GLONASS, and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11n. The phone also comes with decent cameras—a 13MP main camera, coupled with 2MP secondary shooter.

The phone is currently headed to China, with no word on a global release.
