It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the Galaxy S Duos 2 has surfaced at Samsung India’s eStore website. Priced at Rs10,999 (est. Php7,715), this follow-up to last year’s Duos smartphone offers relatively better specs, apart from the usual dual-SIM capabilities.
Equipped with a “fast & powerful” mobile processor that’s clocked at 1.2GHz, the new Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 offers 4GB internal storage with up to 64GB of external expansion. Running the software side of things this time is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. There’s also 768MB of RAM.
With autofocus and LED flash, the rear camera is a CMOS sensor with 5-megapixel resolution and is capable of recording high definition (720×1280) videos at 30 fps. The front camera has 0.3-megapixel (VGA) resolution, just enough for simple video chat sessions.
Measuring 121.5 x 63.1 x 10.57mm, the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 weighs 118g and has a 1500mAh battery, which promises up to 8 hours of talk time and 280 hours on standby. Its connectivity options include EDGE/GPRS for 2G, HSPA+ for 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11n b/g/n (with Wi-Fi Direct), USB 2.0, Bluetooth, and GPS with A-GPS and GLOSS support. The touchscreen, on the other hand, is still a 4-inch display with 480×800 resolution.
Obviously, this isn’t the phone to boast for specs. Instead, it’s a handset with dual-SIM capability to allow owners use two mobile numbers in one device. Available color variants are black and white, both of which are now in stock at the Samsung India eStore.
