Starmobile has a new Android smartphone priced reasonably that it won’t burn a hole in your wallet. For Php2,999, the Starmobile Play is dual-core, dual-SIM handset with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen.

In comparison with similar 4-inch Android smartphones that are currently in the Philippine market, the Happy Man company claims that its Starmobile Play comes with the best rear camera resolution at 5 megapixels, as well as an included battery with the highest capacity at 2000mAh. The latter spec translates to a 4-hour talk time or 10.5-day standby time. Of course, the actual battery life may vary according to usage and network conditions.

The internal hardware responsible for allowing the Starmobile Play to chug along include the dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor (based on Cortex A7), Mali-400MP graphics, and 512MB of RAM. Available onboard storage is only 4GB, to be supplemented by a microSD external expansion of up to 32GB.

The company further claims that its Starmobile Play has the loudest music and video playback among the similarly specced competition. That’s because this handset has built-in Yamaha speakers, like its octa-core brother the Diamond X1. Other specs include 3.5G HSPA+ connectivity (with download speeds reaching up to 21.1Mbps), sensors (accelerometer, light, proximity), and a 5-pin micro-USB port. As a dual-SIM capable device, the Starmobile Play uses two regular (mini) SIM cards.
