Starmobile has unleashed what it calls its “best value large-screen phone.” Indeed, the Starmobile Up+ only costs Php5,490 and is jam-packed with several features.

To justify its claim as a value device, the Starmobile Up+ boasts a handful of hardware and software features. For one, this is a 5-inch device with an IPS display, a quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. At 8GB, its internal storage is double that of its predecessor, the Starmobile Up. Furthermore, the Up+ also sports a pair of cameras with back-illuminated sensors, dual SIM slots and microSD expansion.

Android 4.4 KitKat comes preloaded with the Starmobile Up+, and it’s jam-packed with additional customizations. For instance, multipoint gestures of up to three fingers can be used to execute commands, such as double tapping to wake and sleep the device. There’s a built-in battery saver that lets users choose which apps are allowed to run on start-up and which ones have limited background activity and data connection. Call and text filtering, wireless printing, smart camera controls, syncing between devices and app-to-SD transfers are also available.

  8. puede po magtanong kung ano settings dapat i adjust i’m using star mobile up and my husband is using samsung y duo. parehas kami connected sa wifi pero bakit hindi ako diretso makapanood sa youtube nagstart ung video after 5 secs may lalabas n firewall service tapos ayaw n magplay

  9. I bought this last year, “Starmobile UP+” as backup phone and I am using postpaid globe plan unlimited internet etc, sadly “Starmobile UP+” 3G HSPA+ sucks. I cant play youtube, make a skype/viber call. I could hardly get Facebook updates not even chat message unless I am connected to WiFI. I tried to bring it to starmobile service center in kapitolyo but the technician could not figure out what’s wrong and advised me to do more testing after he saw that I can already get facebook messages. It was late and the center is about to close so I opted bringing it back with me and maybe try to get it repaired on another date. Spare me the “maybe it’s some network problem” I tested with my wife’s samsung grand 2 duos on the same stop and 3G works perfectly.

Another disappointment is that after 2 weeks, I have some sort of air bubble in the center of my screen which follows wherever I touch it. At first I thought it was just the plastic screen protector so I removed it, but with no luck, It seemed to be in between the glass and the LCD.

I feel sorry for starmobile, Php 5000 for this is a rip off, I should’ve opted with Asus Zenfone 5 Lite. The only reason I tried this was because I thought its time to try a local brand. Should’ve known better.

    1. Actually I have been using this phone for 6 months and I’m really satisfied with it. I actually can play Youtube, make a skype as well a viber call, even video call is great. Facebook updates are awesome too. I do not have an air bubble in my screen either. I think the best part is that this phone has an OTG. You can download any applications too. Maybe you have been ripped off by the store that you bought it from. It is a really great phone based on my usage. This phone had been my lucky charm when I took my civil service exam on October 2014. Haha. My mother surprised me with this cellphone 2 days before the exam. I passed the test easily with no unnecessary review for the test whatsoever. =D
