Facebook‘s Messenger app is set to introduce several significant updates this week, enhancing the user experience with new capabilities such as sending high-definition photos and files as big as 100MB.
One of the key upgrades is the ability to send HD photos. Users can now select an image within a chat, activate the HD toggle, and send it to capture and share moments with better clarity. It’s even possible to select and send multiple images in HD at once.
Additionally, Messenger is expanding its file-sharing capabilities. Users will now be able to send files as large as 100MB directly within their chats. Facebook confirms support for a variety of common file types, including documents from PDFs, Word, and Excel spreadsheets.

The Facebook Messenger update also introduces shared albums, an interactive way for users to collectively manage photos and videos. Within any chat, users can create an album, which everyone can contribute to, view, and download content from.

This feature provides a convenient space for friends and family to gather and share memories with each other. The rollout of shared albums will occur over the next few weeks, so some users may need to wait a bit some time before accessing this new feature.

Lastly, the update simplifies how users can connect on Messenger with the inclusion of QR codes. By going to the settings in a message thread, users can find their unique QR code. This code can then be scanned by others to quickly establish a connection or shared via a link to initiate a conversation.
