Creative agency We Are Social, together with media intelligence company Meltwater, has released its Digital 2024 Global Overview Report. It shows the global state of the digital space in January of 2024 covering global internet usage, social media, mobile, e-commerce, marketing, and more.

The report highlights how much Filipinos love watching content online. As per We Are Social and Meltwater, 97.2% of Filipinos ages 16 to 64 years are viewing any kind of video per week.

This puts the Philippines at the top of the list of the countries with the most number of people watching online content, just 0.2% higher than the top 2 and 3 countries, Mexico. You can see the top 10 list below:

  1. Philippines: 97.2%
  2. Mexico: 97.0%
  3. South Africa: 97.0%
  4. Indonesia: 96.9%
  5. Ghana: 96.8%
  6. Brazil: 96.4%
  7. Colombia: 96.3%
  8. Morocco: 96.2%
  9. Turkey: 96.2%
  10. UAE: 96.2%

The report also detailed the type of content that people around the world are watching for January 2024:

  1. Any kind of video: 92.0%
  2. Music Video: 49.7%
  3. Comedy, Meme, or Viral Video: 35.3%
  4. Video Livestream: 27.7%
  5. Tutorial or How-To Video: 25.7%
  6. Educational Video: 25.6%
  7. Product Review Video: 25.2%
  8. Sports Cup or Highlights Video: 24.9%
  9. Influencer Videos and Vlogs: 23.8%
  10. Gaming Video: 23.2%
