Online deals platform MetroDeal is shutting down.

After more than a decade of offering vouchers and promotions, MetroDeal has announced that its operations will cease on May 31, 2024. The company primarily serves customers in the Philippines, allowing the users to find discounts on restaurants, entertainment, beauty treatments, and relaxation products, among others.

Per the official announcement, MetroDeal customers have until May 15 to take advantage of their vouchers, as the company will no longer provide active deals beyond that date.

“As we prepare to close the doors of an incredible chapter na nagsimula noong 2011, we find ourselves filled with a deep sense of gratitude and a touch of sadness,” the company said it in the announcement.

The company emphasized that all purchased vouchers will be honored and can still be redeemed at partner merchants until their respective expiration dates.

The announcement further states that MetroDeal accounts will remain accessible until the end of the year. Customer support, which is currently provided through multiple channels like phone and social media, will also be available during that period. But starting June 1, the customer support will be reduced to email communications at support@metrodeal.com

MetroDeal started its operations in 2011. It quickly rose to become one of the top e-commerce websites in the Philippines, reaching $18 million in revenue a year later. In 2015, Japanese outsourcing service provider Transcosmos acquired MetroDeal at a $30 million valuation.
