Already considered affordable when last announced, the revamped Acer Chromebook C720 has even gone cheaper and yet offers similar specs than its previous version.
Previously sold for $249 (under model no. C720-2800), the new Chromebook C720-2848 was released on Friday with a price tag of just $199.99. The catch in this new version is that it only comes with 2GB of RAM instead of 4GB that’s found in the 2800 variant.
Other specs largely remain the same, both external and internal. Equipped with an 11.6-inch (1366×768) screen, the Acer Chromebook C720-2848 weighs 2.75lbs and sports a 16GB SSD internal storage, an integrated HD webcam, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, dual speakers, and a couple of USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.
Its 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Celeron 2955U processor is paired with an Intel HD Graphics, while the battery can last up to 8.5 hours of continued use. Like with previous model, would-be owners get a two-year 100GB storage on Google Drive for free, as well as 12 complimentary Gogo Inflight passes and Google Play Music All Access.
If you think about it, the lack of another 2GB RAM seems like a good exchange for a cheaper price. The C720-2848 should still run smoothly, as long as only a few Chrome tabs are open.
not a good trade off, pay the extra 50 bucks and get a terrabyte of a portable HD
