It’s summertime again in the Philippines, which is the perfect time for a family and friends getaway.
At the same time, Filipinos are set to travel out of town, especially after the pandemic’s peak in the past years prevented people from traveling from one place to another, even locally.
That also means a surge in Airbnb bookings in the country, increasing up to 400% compared to 2022.
The company confirmed that this surge happened in March and April and was primarily due to long weekends, such as Holy Week, where most Filipinos searched for locations to spend the long vacation.
According to Airbnb, the top searched locations were:
- Santa Maria, Bulacan
- Malay, Aklan
- Baguio City, Benguet
- Cebu City, Cebu
- Pasay City, Manila

Based on Airbnb’s data, the Philippines remains Filipinos’ top destination for domestic travel. Meanwhile, those traveling abroad go to the United States, followed by Canada.
Filipinos book a trip to Japan, Korea, and Thailand when traveling among neighboring countries. International travelers bound for the Philippines choose to visit Manila, followed by Cebu City, Malay, and El Nido.
With the excitement to finally get back on the road (or on the plane) for traveling and relaxation, the group travels increased to 180% year-on-year in 2022.
More Filipinos are ready to get back to traveling not only for the sake of relaxing and exploring but to benefit local communities and to look forward to a broader national economy.
