Android-One-7-0-Nougat-update

The Cherry Mobile One G1 officially gets the much awaited Android 7.0 upgrade.

Google has kept its promise of keeping the Android One devices up to date with the latest version of Android. In less than a month after its release to the public, Android One users are now getting their chance to taste the Nougat goodness.

Some of the improvements include; multi-window feature, VR support, Doze on the go, and a revamped notification system.

According to the members of the Cherry Mobile One G1 group on Facebook, they are now getting the update. Most of them have been reporting performance improvements and a number of refinements in the UI.

While most other handsets (yes, even flagship smartphones) still run on outdated software, the Nexus and Android One family are now enjoying the latest improvements to the world’s largest mobile operating system.

Cherry Mobile One G1 is definitely one of the best local smartphones if getting the latest and greatest of Android is important to you. It’s almost a Nexus, but much more affordable. It’s currently Php3,999 but I honestly think that it’s still a great deal even if it’s over a year old. You can find out more about the Cherry Mobile One G1 by checking out our hands-on review here.

Other Android One smartphones (like MicroMax) will also get the Android 7.0 update in the next few days or so. As for the Cherry Mobile One, we’re not sure if Google will honor the 2-year upgrade policy because the handset is slightly underpowered. But we’re hoping that Google will consider updating it as well as it still runs fairly well on Marshmallow.
