Three-year-old brand Realme continues to grow in the Philippines.

Two smartphone market research firms, Canalys and IDC, said that three-year-old brand Realme had been the top brand in the Philippines for Q1 of 2021 in terms of smartphone shipments.

Both Canalys and IDC have reported different numbers but are firm to announce that Realme has taken the top spot. Canalys said that 23% of the market share belongs to Realme, while IDC says it’s 21.3%.

The two firms noted that the increase in numbers was due to the growing number of Realme physical stores, especially in areas outside Manila.

IDC’s report also shows that OPPO (last quarter’s titleholder) fell on the second spot after it suffered a 44.7% quarter-on-quarter decline. Samsung managed to climb to the second spot thanks to its Galaxy A-series.

Transsion, a brand consists of Infinix and TECNO Mobile, focused on the entry-level market and managed to take the fourth spot. Lastly, Xiaomi managed to take the fifth spot after it grew 3x from last year.

Xiaomi was able to steal the spot from Vivo and Huawei as it improved its online and retail presence. Sub-brand POCO continues to grow, amounting to 15% of overall Xiaomi shipments.
