Although the official media launch event isn’t until September 29, Cherry Mobile has already started selling the device at a concept store opening at SM MOA today. The event featured a meet-and-greet with the local phone brand’s newest endorser, Janela Salvador. More importantly though, it allowed interested buyers to get their hands on the upcoming MAIA Tab and MAIA Smart Tab.
While Cherry Mobile hasn’t actually released any official specs for these devices yet on their Facebook page, the event revealed the specs of both tablets. As expected, one of the tablets will be a dual-boot device.
The said dual-boot device is the Cherry Mobile MAIA Smart Tab (UPDATE: Read our review). It features an 8 inch screen along with an Intel quad core processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device will allow you to switch between Android 4.4 KitKat and Windows 8.1. The tablet will be powered by a 3,800mAh battery and will retail for just Php4,999!
The other tablet is the Cherry Mobile MAIA Tab, a 7 inch device that will only run Android 4.4 KitKat. It will be equipped with an Intel Atom X3 processor and will have 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The 2,800mAh battery is a bit on the small size, but it’s hard to beat that Php2,999 asking price.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any pics or renders of the device yet. We’ll be looking to get you guys a better look at the MAIA devices after the September 29 media launch. Until then, stay tuned!
