In a recent announcement, electric company Meralco said that its customers should expect a higher rate on their January 2021 bill.
Meralco said that they are imposing an additional Php0.27 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month due to the increase in generation charges.
For a perspective, a household that consumes 200 kWh of power every month may see a Php55 increase in its upcoming January bill. 300 kWh households can expect a Php82 increase, 500 kWh at Php137, and so on. Of course, that will be higher as you consume more.

Earlier, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ordered Meralco to refund the overcollection of pass-through charges, which totaled to about Php1.4 billion.
Along with that, Meralco is also collecting under-recoveries for 24 months so the consumers will not be overwhelmed by the charges.
