The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has officially approved GCash Overseas.
Filipinos using international SIM cards in Australia, Italy, and Japan will be available to sign up and use platform while it’s on beta launch. BSP’s approval makes GCash the first and only e-wallet in the Philippines to offer such service.
In a statement, GCash CEO Martha Sazon said “With around 10 million Filipinos living abroad, we want them to also be able to take advantage of GCash services even as they use international SIMs.”
Only the first 1,000 users are eligible to participate in the limited GCash Overseas’ beta launch.
GCash previously partnered with AliPay+ to expand the platform in Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Qatar, Germany, UK, France, and Italy.
