The Gionee Elife S5.5 is a pretty cool phone because it makes no compromises. Octa-core processor? Check. 5.5mm-slim frame? Check. KitKat 4.4? Well, nope. At least, not at the launch.
Well, it just so happens that Gionee has finally rectified that little shortcoming and released the Gionee Elife S5.5 KitKat 4.4 update. The update is more than 800MB in size and brings with it a number of improvements.
Some of the improvements include a new Amigo Paper UI layout, updated Game Zone app, and updated GioneeXender. The UI is also much smoother than when it was on Jelly Bean 4.2, although the perceived UIX improvement isn’t something that reflects in benchmark scores.
So are you a proud Gionee Elife S5.5 owner? Don’t rush into updating your phone though. Make sure you back up your files and apps first. Personally, I like to back up my files and use some of the apps’ cloud-save features to back up their settings. Then I do a straight factory reset before updating the phone. It pays to take some precautions before updating!
