Well, this news might raise an eyebrow or two. For those wanting to increase their cell signal at home, etc., your choice of shop where to buy a signal booster has been greatly diminished. Globe partnered with several gadgets and electronics stores, including three of the most well known ones, CD-R King, Electronics Boutique, and Smile-Com, in prohibiting the sale of repeaters and signal boosters.
While I find it quite amusing that Globe is the one spearheading this, they do have every right to do so. I, for one, didn’t know that those gadgets are illegal. For those unfamiliar, cellular repeaters, or wireless cellular signal boosters, are devices used for boosting the cell phone reception to the local area via a reception antenna, a signal amplifier and an internal rebroadcast antenna. In effect, it’s like having your own personal cellular tower. Office buildings usually have these installed via the network providers.
According ABS-CBN News, “The NTC Memorandum Order 01-02-2013 prohibits the sale, use and possession of signal boosters without the approval of the regulatory agency.” So, regardless of what I feel about the absurdity of prohibiting these devices, the law is the law.
This is stupidity. Why they prohibit it? There are some areas that smart ,globe or other providers cannot provide better sgnal . In this case you need a signal booster.
