It looks like Globe has revised its Fair Use Policy and imposed a stricter limit on mobile data consumption. Subscribers of Globe Internet promos and plans are now subject to 1GB-a-day limit (or 3GB-a-month, whichever comes first). Exceeding bandwidth is then put through 2G speeds.

To make it clear, those who subscribe to surfing promos and those with Internet postpaid plans (for both phones and Tattoo Lifestyle sticks) are affected by the new Fair Use Policy. PowerSurf subscribers and those surfing on regular rates (Php5/15 minutes) are exempted.

Setting such a low limit on their supposedly unlimited data plans will no doubt upset many Globe subscribers. But the local telecom claims that this new policy only affects 3% of users who consume a large volume of data on the mobile network. This will then be beneficial to the remaining subscribers, who have also paid for the Internet access and expect quality service from Globe.

In other words, if you are a Globe mobile user who often downloads large movies and other multimedia files using file-sharing/torrent apps, you will most likely notice a sudden drop in your Internet speed within the month. Users who only use the Internet access for the occasional browsing and watching videos on YouTube should not worry of exceeding the limit.

Globe also claims that this stricter imposition of its Fair Use Policy is within their rights and conforms to the international practice of telecom providers.

More information is available at Globe’s Fair Use Policy official page.

    1. be a proud hacker, bulok ang internet sa bansa natin, habang cheap lang ang 1Gbps na internet sa ibang bansa tapos sa sobrang cheap FREE na wifi anywhere parang tubig ulan, sa globe habang tumatagal lalong png bumabagal, dapat payagan na ang ZTE maglagay ng fiber optic cable sa dagat, tapos launch ng satellite sa pinas, pinipigilan ng globe, corruption much eh, you don’t get what you pay for kya HACKING is our ANSWER

  1. only affects 3% of users????? sino niloloko nyo. bka 3% lng ang hindi affected. 800mb ung 360p na youtube ung 6mins eh 30mb na un… within 2-3 lng na youtube ubos na un…

    1. OO nga. Ung sinasavi nilang 3% ay yung gumagamit ng malakas at the same time.

My contract with globe ends on June 2014. Salamat naman! Pangit pa ng signal dito sa amin!

  5. ganyan ang globe. kasing laki ng globe ang bayarin sa postpaid plans with a very poor service. nakakadismaya kumuha kmi ng 2 mobile wifi nila kasi nga unlimited internet. ang tataray pa ng mga walang hiyang Customer rep. cnabi ko na ipapacut ko dahil di nku satisfied sa service nila as in laging walang signal! tapos kung

meron man, mas mabilis pa ang lakad ng langgam! sabi ng globe ay kailangan ko raw bayaran ang rest ng contract sabi ko kayo nman ang unang nag break sa contract. kasi unlimited ang contract not 1GB/day. goodbye globe!

  6. Hey Globe can you say that your service is LTE or 3G?? Still not use 3GB yet so I should get high speed BUT!! Since 1st day of February NEVER!! NEVER!! Experience higher than 100kb/s.. You should not say you have LET/3G service..

  7. meron din limit sa prepaid. bwisit na bwisit talaga ako!! yung supersurf promo nila walang kwenta talaga. nagsignup ako sa supersurf999 which is good for one month with 800mb bandwidth limit per day. sabi ko, o cge ok lang kasi alam kong di ako aabot sa limit because I monitor the bandwidth consumption using a different software ksi di naman tama yung bandwidth usage history sa globe dashboard. talagang ang layo! pag nareceive mo na yung message nato ciguradong empyerno na!

“Hello! We noticed that your data usage today has been really high………”

The speed will go down to… tada…. 5 – 10 KBPS..!!! Kilobytes po yan mga kababayan and I would last for a day or 24hrs khit alam ko na hindi ko pa nareach yung limit na 800mb. nakakasuka..!!! Yung worst nito, hindi mo alam kung kailan babalik yung speed mo minsan WITHIN THE NEXT 24 – 48hrs..

I dont usually post comments online, but when I do there’s a good reason. Dapat kasi…I stop nila yung internet pag na reach na yung cap, I think it’s more reasonable pa instead na ibaba yung speed, 5- 10 Kbps KAHIT HINDI MO PA NAREACH YUNG LIMIT.
