It appears that GMA is also launching its own digital TV receiver dubbed as the GMA Affordabox.
The GMA Affordabox is essentially the network’s take on its rival’s ABS-CBN TVPlus box. It plugs directly to your old or new TV to gain access to digital channels that provides better and clearer reception. But with this one, it gives more highlight of GMA’s network channels.
Just like the TVPlus, the Affordabox can also be used as a multimedia player. Which is useful for those who want to play videos from a USB flash drive.

It also has a personal video recorder for your favorite shows. Plus, a nationwide emergency warning broadcast system and functional auto-on alert feature, which is handy for calamities.

Of course, the GMA Affordabox is a one-time-payment deal. Just purchase the box and enjoy all the available HD channels for free, without any monthly payment. Albeit, just like the TVPlus, we expect a few exclusive shows and channels to be pay-per-view in the future.
The GMA Affordabox official price is yet to be announced. But since we’re starting to see retail packages in the wild, it won’t be long until the company releases it in the market. If we were to speculate, it should be under Php1,000 to make it competitive to the TVPlus.
