An official unveiling event for Huawei’s HarmonyOS is scheduled for June 2. And as we come closer, more information is starting to come out.
The company also published teasers for the upcoming event with hints for the Huawei MatePad 2 and Watch 3, both of which are expected to come preloaded with HarmonyOS straight from the box.
By the end of 2021, Huawei aims to have 300 million devices on its Android alternative. Brand new devices will surely contribute a significant portion of that figure. Despite this, many of the efforts will go into updating old Android devices to HarmonyOS.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the schedule for the software updates will also be announced at the said event. Some of the Huawei devices rumored to get HarmonyOS are the following:
- P40, P40 Pro
- Nova 8, Nova 8 pro
- Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, Mate 40 RS
- MatePad Pro
- Mate X2
The insider also claims that devices being sold in physical stores were already being updated to HarmonyOS. Hands-on experience will begin shortly after the event.
This is only the initial list of Huawei devices compatible with HarmonyOS as more are expected to be supported soon.
