The DigiTimes reported that Samsung isn’t the only smartphone maker planning to launch foldable devices in Q3 of 2021. According to tech industry sources, brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo are also planning to release new foldable phones to take on Samsung.

After the announcement of its first foldable back in March, China’s Xiaomi is rumored to be building a more affordable foldable phone in order to challenge Samsung. The report says Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable could be priced way less than the CNY 9,999 (~Php75,000) cost of Mi Mix Fold

By Q2 2021, Vivo and OPPO are expected to launch their first-ever foldable smartphones. Unfortunately, the possible specs of the products are still a mystery right now.

Previous leaks have suggested that Samsung will launch two new foldable smartphones by July: Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. According to rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be the first Samsung to include an under-display front camera.

Just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the new Fold will also support an S Pen. There is also a new “Split UI” on the software side, which is tailored specifically for foldable devices.
