LG flexible and transparent OLED display

It looks like someone went crazy on the display tech once again. This time, its LG.

This new one looks a bit promising, though. Meet the new LG flexible and transparent OLED display.

Going through the less-weird stuff first, the LG flexible and transparent OLED display boasts a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution. This is definitely sufficient enough to populate its insanely large 77-inch size.

And if you think that isn’t crazy enough, you’re wrong. Despite its gargantuan size, this display also has 40% level of transparency. This means that even if you don’t have the best eyesight, you can barely notice its existence when it is turned off. The new LG OLED display is also flexible up to a radius of 80mm, a display technology that everyone has been trying to master over the last few years.

While this new screen from the Korean tech giant might look bizarre, it is actually a quite promising innovation when it is put to practical use. The idea of having a transparent and flexible display means it can be used in a lot of ways.

For one, it can serve as a substitute for mirrors and glass. Imagine your speedometer displayed directly to your windshield. A storefront that directly showcases the products or today’s menu. The new things that we can do with this new display tech are almost limitless.
