Amid difficult times caused by the pandemic, the city government of Manila is following through with its plan to distribute gadgets and SIM cards to prep students and teachers for the upcoming blended distance learning.
As announced on Facebook, the Manila Public Information Office said it allocated a budget exceeding Php1 billion to distribute 11,000 laptops with pocket WiFi devices to teachers. A portion of the budget is also earmarked for 136,950 tablets for students.
In addition, starting next week, both teachers and students will receive 286,000 SIM cards from the Division of City Schools (DCS) – Manila. These SIM cards will come with 10GB monthly data allowance.
Per DCS Superintendent Dr. Maria Magdalena Lim, the distribution of the gadgets and SIM cards will ensure the teachers and students have the means to connect online for the blended distance learning.
Return of classes is set on August 24, 2020 in the Philippines.
