We’re starting to feel the effects of the new value-added tax (VAT) imposed on digital services offered in the Philippines.

This is after Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the Digital Services Law, imposing a 12 percent tax on digital services offered in the country. That includes streaming services, digital distribution services, and more.

Steam, a digital distribution service for PC games, already announced in March that titles and other items sold in its stores will have a 12% VAT inclusive.

Now, Netflix has started sending email notifications to its users stating that a price increase, due to the new 12% VAT, will be reflected on their bill starting June 1, 2025.

For Premium Plan users, the monthly price of Php549 will now cost Php619 per month. The monthly fee for an Extra member that used to cost Php149 will now be Php169. See the updated price list below.
