The Nexus series of devices have quite a following thanks to a typically great combination of specs and pricing. The next tablet in the Nexus lineup could be much pricier than folks are accustomed to though because the purported maker of the Nexus 9, HTC, wants it to rock some seriously awesome hardware.

According to a report by Android Police, the HTC Volantis or Nexus 9 as it will eventually be called will have an 8.9 inch screen with resolution of 2048 x 1440. That gives it a crystal clear pixel density of 281ppi. It will also come equipped with a very capable Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, one of the most powerful you can get on a mobile device.

As for the specs, you’re getting 2GB RAM, a choice between 16GB or 32GB of storage, an 8mp main camera with OIS, and a 3mp front camera. Pricing is reported to be $399 for the 16GB WiFi-only variant, $499 for the 32GB WiFi-only variant, and upwards of $600 for the 32GB LTE version.

As always with these kinds of leaks, it’s important not to believe everything. This is especially the case here since it is still quite a while before Google and HTC are expected to reveal the newest Nexus tablet.

    1. Yep, i agree completely. It would have been nice if HTC would have stuck with the tradition of keeping the price of Nexus devices low while still offering relatively high end specs. It doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case :(

      1. maybe they will make it as a premium tablet, i have nexus 7 and i dont feel it as a premium product.

        1. that’s a possibility, but HTC would be missing out on a great opportunity if they went that route.
