OPPO is investing more in AI as it establishes its AI Center, aimed at bolstering the company’s AI capabilities as well as researching a wider range of AI-centric products and features.
OPPO announced that within Q2 2024, the Reno 11 Series will be harnessed with advanced generative AI capabilities, putting the innovative OPPO AI Eraser function into highlight and more.
Per OPPO Chief Product Officer Pete Lau, “next-gen AI smartphones” will become symbolic of the “third major transformative stage in the mobile phone industry”. With the advent of AI smartphones, he added that both the mobile industry and the user experience will be witness to “revolutionary changes.”
Meanwhile, OPPO, through its forward-looking research and aggregation of knowledge on generative AI technology and large models, defines AI smartphones through the following four characteristics:
- Efficiency in the utilization of computing resources in meeting the computational needs of generative AI in the era of AI;
- Real-time awareness of the world through sensors, with understanding of complex data of users and the environment;
- Possession of potent self-learning capabilities;
- Having multimodal content generation abilities, giving users knowledge support and incessant inspiration.
In line with these distinctive characteristics, it is anticipated that the coming of AI smartphones will transform the mobile industry as we know it. Multiple AI services, in particular, will be infused into smart agents, allowing users to experience services that are suited to their needs.
But while providing a breakthrough in its approach, the new ecosystem will only complement and enhance the current app ecosystem. Aside from providing AI capabilities, it will also offer a development platform aimed at supporting the brand-new ecosystem.
Boasting an expansive 180 billion parameters, OPPO launched the AndesGPT, which comes with three underlying major characteristics: personalization, dialog enhancement, and cloud-device collaboration. Altogether, these three provide attention to memory, knowledge, tools, and creation.
