OPPO just teased its upcoming smartwatch. The interesting part is, it looks very familiar.
Brian Shen, OPPO’s Vice President, went to Weibo and shared a teaser photo of their first smartwatch. As you can see in the image above, it looks very similar to the Apple Watch. Particularly, the new Apple Watch Series 5.
It has the same all-screen square watch face, although the glass is slightly curved that melts on the sides. The main chassis is also identical to the Apple Watch’s stainless steel metal.
The strap it comes with also looks similar to Apple’s smartwatch. It appears to be made of rubber, with a narrow shape that goes wide as it reaches the watch itself.
OPPO even used an identical watch face. There’s the flower-like art as the background with a minimalistic font for the time and date.
The only main difference it has over the Apple Watch is the two buttons on the left side. The top button is wider, while the one on the bottom has OPPO’s signature green stripe. Just like what we saw on the OPPO Reno 2.
What’s on the other side is yet to be known. Possibly a microphone and speaker array for calls?

It lacks the Digital Crown that the Apple Watch is known for. This shall make the upcoming OPPO smartwatch as the more affordable option.
There’s a growing interest in smartwatches in recent months. Which is why we’re seeing brands like Huawei coming up with multiple wearables every year.
We just wish that OPPO went with a more traditional, rounded watch design. Just like what Xiaomi did with theirs. Although there is still money to be made on tricking consumers on getting the real thing — which is undeniably the Apple Watch.
When the OPPO smartwatch launches, the company now has an ecosystem of products that its fans can get. Including the new OPPO Enco Free, which also has similarities with Apple’s AirPods 2.
