China Mobile just held the commercial launch for 5.5G, also known as 5GA and 5G-Advanced, and the phones that will have it are coming very soon. This new tech promises 300% faster speeds with up to 10Gbps down and 1Gbps up. It has the technical name of 3GPP Release 18.
OPPO’s Chief Product Officer Pete Lau has posted a teaser online showcasing the OPPO Find X7 Ultra with the 5GA icon showing on the status bar.
A teaser on Weibo also suggests that the OPPO Find X7 will be updated to 5.5G networks, too. Take note that the Ultra uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor while the vanilla X7 has a Dimensity 9300.
This makes the OPPO Find X7 series the first devices to have the latest 5.5G connectivity, but it is expected that more than 20 compatible devices will be added in the list within a year.
China Mobile plans to roll out the service in more than 300 cities within the country before 2024 ends.
