A study by research firm IDC seems to suggest that more Filipinos have been buying printers during the first quarter of 2022—an up by 9.8% year-on-year and 5.2% quarter-on-quarter.

Driving much of the sales is the inkjet printer, which is said to have boosted a year-on-year growth by 13.9%, the demand of which comes from both consumers and small-and-medium enterprises.

While ink-based printers were gaining the attraction of consumers amid the scarcity brought about by the global health crisis, laser printers, on the other hand, did not fare as well in the market. That is, with them dropping in sales by 32.2% compared to last year.

Despite a decline in overall sales by 1.8% year-on-year, Epson remains the leader in the market, as of Q1 2022, with it holding 50.7% of the overall market share.
