The upcoming iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 are just on the horizon and this latest rumor about the new mobile OS versions is going to be a huge blow to some users.
Both the new iOS 17 and iPadOS will be unveiled in three months at the WWDC 2023. Now, rumor has it that the upcoming update will drop support to some of the old but very significant iPhone and iPad models.
This rumor came from an anonymous Twitter user who already has a reputation for accurately spilling the beans on future Apple software updates.
According to the source, the new iOS 17 will no longer support the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and the first Apple smartphone with the controversial notch, the iPhone X.

Meanwhile, the upcoming iPadOS 17 will no longer work with the 5th-gen iPad, 1st-gen 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and the 1st-gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Ending support for older iPhone models is not surprising since Apple has been doing this in the past. In fact, iOS 16 saw the end of support for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, 7 and 7 Plus, 1st-gen iPhone SE, and the 7th-gen iPod Touch.
However, it is said that dropping support for the said iPhones is due to the unfixable bootrom vulnerability that’s affecting A5 to A11 chips.
