Because people aren’t satisfied with the real world, forms of escapism such as video games and virtual reality are born. The Zeiss VR One is a case in point—it lets you interact with your smartphone as if the handset were one giant screen in front of you.
When equipped, the Zeiss VR One lets a user “step into a world of new experiences.” For instance, its bundled apps allow watching of movies in 2D and 3D, explore locations in Google Street View and interact with augmented reality.
The Zeiss VR One is currently compatible with the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Other phones will also be compatible but will require additional “drawers” to insert into the headset.
Virtual realities for smartphones are also available in the form of the Samsung Gear VR and Google VR Cardboard. The former is a more expensive headset that’s only compatible with Samsung devices, whereas the latter works with several more devices and is something users can easily make at home.
Interested customers can now pre-order the Zeiss VR One. The first batch will ship before the end of the year.
